To be eligible to play rugby in the Army, all Corps, units and clubs must be affiliated to the ARU; the affiliation fee per club/unit is £50, this affiliation fee includes all administration and cup entry fees, if applicable. A proportion of the fee will also go towards the administration of the RFU insurance scheme.
For more information about affiliation please go to the Affiliation page.
It has been identified by the ARU that in support of the constitution, there are areas where policy needs to be clarified and broadcast to the ARU membership and the wider Army rugby community. It is therefore the aim of this document to provide that clarity in the relevant areas so that personnel involved in Army rugby have full transparency over the way it operates in support of its aims.
For more information about ARU Policies please go to the ARU Policy page.
Book a Ref
There are two levels of booking a referee for rugby union within the Army and Combined Services, basically it depends on the level of the game.
For more information on Booking a Referee please go to the Book A Ref page.
A handbook is issued each season and is available from this web site or the ARU Secretariat.
For more information and to obtain a copy of the Handbook please go to the Handbook page.
Members are reminded that they should ensure their annual membership is renewed prior to refereeing their first match of the season. Annual membership costs £10 and ensures you are insured as an Army Referee.
For more information on Membership please go to the ARURS Membership page.

Army rugby could not achieve all it does without the help of our Sponsors, whose generous contributions enable us to maintain and improve our levels of performance and to develop rugby at grass roots.
