Middlesex Club 7s Competition – 1 May 11
This was an early preseason event that saw the new formed Chieftains Team take the field for the first time. With the development of the squad for the season and future, it was clear that the squad needed to be increased to allow strength in depth and therefore keep the team up to date both playing and fit for the 7s season.
Participating in this competition saw a completely new team that had shown promise during the XVs season and spotted by the Head Coach and called up to play for the Army team. Skippered by Pte Bunny Burenivalu, the team that had never played together before was confident from the start with some great ball skill and impressive running lines. What was more impressive, the commitment to wear the shirt and be apart of the team, very promising for the start of the season.

Chieftain Army 7s Team
The club 7s competition was a knock out basis that saw the Army playing a series of games that tested the team throughout. On display was some new talent that was spotted by the head coach with one star coming to the fore, Pte Iggy Putty, his blistering pace was outstanding and clearly would be a candidate for the next Olympics. However, sadly in the final he tore his quad muscle in the final which is a serious shame and the team wish him well on his recovery, he has promised, once fit he will be back, we all cant wait.
Position – Runners up to Esher
Player of the Team – Pte Iggy Putty
