Newquay Surf 7s

With a Friday drive that would test any individual the team were ready for this year’s Newquay Surf competition which brought together some great friendships and the Reds wanting to retain their title in the South West.

The pool stages saw the Reds play 3 games which tested the team which thought well and defended like warriors that saw them win each game 19-7, 33-12 and 38-7 before the team were selected to play in the semi finals. The semi finals saw the team focused on wanting to be in the finals winning 36-0 with a hatrick being scored by Bull Jnr showing that pace matters when you have the ball.

The finals were up against the professional players of the Cornish Pirates who wanted the win. Both teams defended like titans causing possession to change over on a regular basis along with the score seeing the Reds go in at the break trailing by one try, however with some strong advice and guidance from the coach the Reds came out in the second half showing they had the desire to win with some fantastic running play by Vuki, Bull and Sami to see the Reds win 24-17. A great weekend and thank you to Newquay Surf for another great weekend of rugby.
