The girls had a mixed season in the 15 Corp Competition with losing a lot of players to tours and injury but on a positive note gained a lot of new comers and experience along the way.
After coming runners up in the Army 7s competition narrowly losing to the RA by 1 try we decided to move onto our 7s game and entered a few civilian competitions. Our first competition was Manchester where we entered into a sociable league, or so we thought. When we arrived at Manchester the pools had all changed into an ‘all in’ competition and the top 2 teams went through to the cup final and the next 2 teams into the plate final. We played some very good teams and put up a good display of rugby but unfortunately came home empty handed but a good day had been had by all.
The next competition the team entered was the well established Bournemouth 7s. Little did we know that we were in the Cider Cup and facing teams such as Saracens Ladies and the Pink BA BAs and a ‘fit’ university team. Needless to say, we never made it through to the next round as we were convincingly left in the wake of these teams but again put up a good display especially in defence.
I would like to thank all of the REME women rugby players for their support, Commitment and enthusiasm this season, lets hope we can build on this years efforts.
