The end of another successful period for Army Rugby Union has seen a number of changes within the organisation’s management structure as it continues to build on recent progress and look ahead to the next chapter.

Brig Andy Geary OBE has been appointed Chair of the Army Rugby Union, succeeding Brig James Cook OBE. Brig Cook departs the role after three years as Chair, having overseen continued development of Army Rugby across all levels and the strengthening of the Inter Service programme during his tenure.

Brig Mark Davis CBE is the new Vice Chair of the ARU, succeeding Brig Gary McDade. Brig Davis brings extensive leadership experience and will support the Chair in delivering the strategic direction of Army Rugby going forward.

Col Finlay Bibby has been appointed Chair of Representative Rugby, taking responsibility for overseeing the Army’s representative rugby pathway and supporting continued performance development across the senior programme.

Col Andy Wilde joins the ARU Board as Director of Engagement, with a focus on strengthening communication, stakeholder engagement and the visibility of Army Rugby across the wider Army and rugby community.

In addition, Maj Duncan Couchman has been appointed as Director of Women’s Rugby, succeeding Lt Col Ann O’Flynn for Season 2026/27. Maj Couchman served as Assistant Director of Rugby for the past season and steps into the role as the women’s programme continues to grow and develop across all levels.

Army Rugby Union thanks all outgoing members for their dedication and significant contributions to the organisation. Their leadership and commitment have played an important role in supporting the continued evolution of Army Rugby in recent years.

The incoming appointments ensure continuity alongside fresh perspective as the organisation continues to develop its representative programme, strengthen engagement, and grow the game across the Army.
