The Army Rugby Union is delighted to announce that Guardsman Manuqalo Komaitai, Irish Guards has signed with Harlequins Women, ahead of the 2025/26 Premiership Women’s Rugby (PWR) season.

A Fijian international and dynamic back-row forward, Komaitai has already made her mark on the world stage, representing Fijiana at the Rugby World Cup, where she made three appearances and scored a memorable try against Scotland.

Having only taken up rugby in 2021, following an early sporting background in netball back home in Fiji, Komaitai’s rapid rise through the ranks has been nothing short of remarkable. Initially starting out as a winger, she transitioned into the back-row, where her athleticism, physicality and determination quickly earned her international honours earlier this year.

Off the field, Komaitai serves with 1st Battalion The Irish Guards, who are proudly celebrating their 125th year since formation. On the pitch, she has represented the Army Women’s Rugby Team in the historic Army vs Navy fixture, where she lined up alongside current Harlequins players Jade Mullen and Lauren Brooks.

Komaitai’s signing with Harlequins Women is another proud milestone for the Army Rugby Union’s growing legacy of producing elite players who excel both in service and in sport.

Speaking about her move, Komaitai said:

“I’m incredibly proud to be joining Harlequins and to represent both Fiji and the British Army at the highest level of women’s domestic rugby. The Army Rugby Union has given me amazing opportunities to grow as a player and a person, and I hope to make everyone proud, my regiment, my teammates and my family back home in Fiji.”

The Army Rugby Union extends its warmest congratulations to Guardsman Komaitai and looks forward to following her progress throughout the 2025/26 season.
