Army Rugby Union’s senior men’s and women’s teams delivered commanding performances in their latest friendly fixtures, underlining their intent as preparations intensify for the 2026 Inter Service Championships.

Senior Men Run Riot in Aldershot

The Army senior men produced a ruthless display to secure a resounding 66–7 victory over Rams Development XV in Aldershot, continuing what has already been an impressive winning year.

From the opening whistle, the men in red asserted their authority. Sapper Todd Johnson crossed twice in a dominant first-half display, while Highlander Tomasi Vula and Staff Sergeant Drew Davison also powered over the try line.

The Rams responded through captain Harry Judd before the break, ensuring the visitors got on the scoreboard, but the Army still headed into half-time firmly in control at 26–7.

The second half saw the Army raise the intensity even further. Staff Sergeant Jamie Diamond and Craftsman Tagutu both claimed braces, while Vula added his second of the afternoon. Craftsman Ben Hurford-John also touched down to round off an emphatic attacking performance.

With Lance Corporal Jack Johnson and Captain Jesse Ribeiro adding the extras from the tee, the Army closed out a comprehensive 66–7 win — a powerful statement as the countdown to the 2026 Inter Service Championships gathers pace.

Senior Women Impress in Dublin

Meanwhile in Dublin, the Army senior women delivered an equally assured performance, overcoming the Irish Defence Force 34–5 in a competitive friendly encounter.

The visitors dominated the opening forty minutes, with Lieutenant Cross leading from the front with a brace of tries. Craftsman Adiqalo added another to give the Army a commanding 19–0 advantage at the interval.

Maintaining their momentum after the restart, the Army women continued to apply pressure. Private Scholes crossed twice in the second half, while Trooper Amor also added her name to the scoresheet.

Although the Irish Defence Force managed a late consolation try, the Army’s discipline, physicality and attacking cohesion ensured a deserved 34–5 victory on the road.
