Army Rugby Union’s senior men’s and women’s teams delivered commanding performances in their latest friendly fixtures, underlining their intent as preparations intensify for the 2026 Inter Service Championships.

Senior Women Fight Back in Lille

The Army senior women faced a stern test against a strong Armée de Terre team. Despite trailing 12–0 at half-time, the women staged an impressive second-half fightback, scoring 12 points to keep the contest competitive, although the hosts ultimately ran out 24–12 winners.

After the interval, the Army women demonstrated resilience and attacking intent, producing slick phases and strong defensive work. While the scoreboard did not swing in their favour, the performance highlighted their character and tactical growth ahead of their final pre-Army v Navy outing against London Irish next Thursday.

Senior Men Dominate in Lille

The Army senior men produced a commanding display to secure a convincing 33–6 victory over their Armée de Terre counterparts, reaffirming their form ahead of the 2026 Army v Navy clash.

The first half saw the men in red assert early control, heading into the break with a 7–3 lead thanks to solid defence and effective territorial play. After the restart, the Army raised the intensity further, combining forward power and slick attacking moves to pull clear and close out a 33–6 win.

With no further fixtures planned before Army v Navy, this victory provides the men with a timely confidence boost and momentum heading into one of the highlights of the season.
