The Army Rugby Union (ARU) is proud to announce the Senior Women’s squad, coaching team, and management staff selected to represent the British Army in the 2025 Inter Service Championship. Following a season of intense preparation, commitment, and competition, the squad has been finalised ahead of two blockbuster fixtures in May.

This year, over 50 players have been assessed across a series of fixtures, camps, and development opportunities, showcasing the growing strength and depth of talent within Army Women’s Rugby. Selection has been fiercely competitive, a testament to the exceptional standard of rugby being played across the service.

In a historic first, the squad conducted a warm weather training camp in Gibraltar, allowing players and coaches to focus on skill development, tactical preparation, and team cohesion in the lead-up to the championship. The camp marked a significant step forward in professionalising the women’s game within the Army.

Season Fixtures & Results

The 2024/25 season has seen the Army Senior Women’s team produce a series of commanding and hard-fought performances:

Won 74–0 vs Havant

Won 15–14 vs Portugal (National XV)

Won 17–14 vs Armée de Terre (Inaugural fixture vs French Army)

Won 43–5 vs Team Brunel

Each match provided invaluable insight and development opportunities for the coaching staff and players alike, building critical momentum going into the Inter Service campaign.

Director of Rugby, Lt Col Ann O’Flynn commented;

“This squad represents the very best of what Army Women’s Rugby has to offer — grit, skill, power and determination. With over 50 athletes considered this season, narrowing it down was no easy task for Head Coach, WO2 Sarah Mitchelson. The players selected today have earned their place through personal dedication, relentless effort and top-quality performances. A tough first-ever fixture against the Portugal national side and our inaugural pre-Inter Service training camp held in Gibraltar brought the group together in a way we’ve never seen before. Now, we look forward to taking on the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force with focus, belief, and pride.”
