Earlier this month ARURS held its 54th Annual Dinner in the Indian Army Memorial Room, RMA Sandhurst.

Fresh from refereeing this year’s Army vs. Navy fixture, the Society was delighted to host Sara Cox as its principal guest.

Sara has not only blazed a trail for female referees, she personifies what it means to officiate at the very highest levels of any sport.

After dinner, Sara entertained members with many amusing ‘dits’ from her refereeing pathway; from first picking up the whistle to making her way up through the junior leagues to ultimately officiating in the Premiership and at internationals, including the Rio Olympic Game.

Sara then awarded ARURS Caps to Rich Smith, Adam Hughes, Mike Todd and Neil Hennessy for their recent Inter Service appointments.

Sara also presented this season’s Society Awards to;

Neil Hennessy as the ARURS Referee of the Year

Stephen Walley as ARURS New Referee of the Year

and finally the ARURS Award for Commitment to Claire MacCarron for her many years of selfless commitment to the Society.

Many congratulations to all.
