The battle of the Army Women’s Senior XV back rowers went Bdr Bethan Dainton’s way this weekend as Harlequins maintained their 100 percent start to the Premier 15s season.

Dainton’s Quins headed to Twyford Avenue on Saturday afternoon, with the flanker in direct competition with Wasps’ Sgt Sarah Mitchelson (RLC) in the pack. Dainton (Royal Artillery) did not get on the score sheet herself but was part of a dominant forward effort from Quins which saw them to a 31-12 bonus point win.

Wasps also had Capt Gemma Rowland (Royal Artillery) in their line-up for their first game of the campaign.

Capt Erica Mills (Royal Artillery) was part of the Gloucester-Hartpury squad which headed to Loughborough. This was a closely-fought match, and while Loughborough secured the maximum haul from the 32-26 result the visitors scored a fourth try of their own in the final seconds of the match to head home with a pair of league points.

Harlequins top the table after two rounds, closely followed by Saracens in second and Loughborough in third, with the trio separated only by points difference. Gloucester-Hartpury make up the top four.
