At the start of the Under-23 Inter Service Rugby Championship this November, the tournament organisers and British Forces Broadcasting (BFBS) have confirmed an extension of the broadcast partnership which has proven so successful in recent years.
Viewing figures for the 2024 Inter Service Championship were significantly up on 2023, with BFBS – through the BFBS Forces News website and YouTube channel – providing comprehensive coverage of the Championship.
This season BFBS will be live streaming the Under-23 rugby matches between the Royal Air Force and Army (Wed 20 Nov) and Army v Navy (Wed 27 Nov), along with the three Senior Men and Senior Women Saturday double-headers in April and May.
To celebrate the continuation of this partnership, BFBS Radio will be running a competition for its listeners to win tickets to the Army v Navy 2025 match. The competition will be live on the BFBS National Breakfast Show in the UK on Friday 22nd, 29th November, and 6th December and listeners will have the chance to win one of five pairs of tickets each week.
“The organising committee is delighted to confirm the continuation of our broadcast partnership with BFBS,” commented Captain Sarah Oakley (Royal Navy), Chair of the Inter Service Championship Committee.
“BFBS is one of the most recognised names within the military community. It is pleasing that they are committed to covering the Championship’s games and continue to work with us positively and proactively to grow the competition.”
“Year-on-year viewing figures between 2023 and 2024 were superb, reflecting the high level of interest in the games as well as the quality of entertainment on show.”
Ben Chapman CEO, BFBS said, “It is fantastic to continue our partnership with the Inter Service Championship for the biggest sporting events in the military calendar. The Championship is a highlight for the entire armed forces community, and we’re proud to be part of bringing these iconic events to our listeners and viewers.“
“This ongoing collaboration strengthens our commitment to connecting, entertaining, and championing those who serve, both on and off the field.”
BFBS Radio is available across FM, AM, and DAB+ in the UK, and FM in many locations globally. Listeners can also access BFBS Radio via the mobile app, online, on TV, and on smart speakers. For additional coverage, live features and events are available on the BFBS Forces News YouTube channel, ensuring the widest possible reach for the military community.
