Prop Ryan Grant – Capped in epic win over Australia

Prop Ryan Grant, former Royal Signals and U23 Army player, gained his first Scotland cap in the epic win over Australia on 1 June.

Following a succession of Army props to gain Scotland honours—the last was current forwards coach Mattie Stewart—Ryan formed a formidable front row with Euan Murray and skipper Ross Ford.

The Daily Telegraph described the scene, in atrocious weather, with the clock run down and the score a 6 points all as :
“A scrum. The Scotland eight drove low and hard with ferocious intent. The Australian front row folded and South African referee Peyper’s arm shot straight up. Into the teeth of the gale Greig Laidlaw drilled the ball low and hard—and the touch judges flags went up. Australia 6pts—Scotland 9.

Well done Ryan Grant whose climb to international honours via Edinburgh and Glasgow—his current club– has been dramatic.
