The British Army Senior Men’s Rugby team will host the US Military in the the Rugby for Remembrance fixture at Aldershot’s Army Rugby Stadium on Tuesday 11 November, with kick-off at 18:30hrs and free admission for all spectators.

A Rematch Steeped in Meaning

This contest marks the return leg after the two sides first met in last year’s inaugural encounter at Esher RFC, where the British Army emerged victorious 47-17 and claimed the first ever inscription on the Field Marshal Sir John Dill Shield.

That match captured the spirit of remembrance, camaraderie and sporting challenge, themes that will again be on full display this November.

The US Military side returns to British soil with renewed energy and determination to build upon the foundations laid in their inaugural tour.

What to Expect on the Night

Venue: Army Rugby Stadium, Aldershot

Time: 18:30 kick-off

Entry: Free

The winning team will be awarded the Field Marshal Sir John Dill Shield, continuing the legacy started last year

Spectators can expect a competitive, high-tempo match as both teams strive to leave everything on the field in honour of those who served, while reinforcing the shared bond between the UK and US militaries through sport.

Reflection & Rivalry

Last November’s meeting saw the Army assert dominance early, building a 28-7 half-time lead and closing emphatically in the second half.

The Americans, however, earned respect for their grit, defensive resolve and flashes of attacking ambition.

Coach Allen Clarke and his team were praised for keeping belief alive throughout the contest.

That match laid the framework for what this fixture could become, not just a friendly, but a meaningful commemorative fixture of equal stature. The 2025 edition offers the US Military a chance at redemption and the British Army a chance to retain the Shield before a home audience.

Invitation to All

We warmly invite members of the public, serving personnel, veterans, family and rugby fans to join us in Aldershot. Entry is free, bring your support, your voices and your respect for the meaning behind the fixture.
