We are delighted to present, in conjunction with Samurai Sportswear, the design for the 2019 Remembrance Shirt.
The launch of this years design is significant for two reasons; it marks 10 years since the production of these special designs began and for the time being this will be the final shirt in the series.
With this in mind the design for this years shirt is a re-model of the original produced in 2010. The inspiration for this initial design was from the moment during the annual festival of remembrance held at the Royal Albert Hall when the poppy petals fall from the ceiling. Computer aided design has developed, and continues to develop significantly, since the first design in 2010; this is particularly evident when comparing the 10th anniversary design to the first through the definition now achieved in the falling poppy petals.
The ARU has a long standing relationship with the Royal British Legion, their logo has featured on the sleeve of all 10 of the ‘Poppy Shirt’ designs, the first design also featured the special logo the charity had designed for their 90th anniversary.
The reaction to the production of this first shirt was more than we could have ever anticipated. This led to the expectation of a new design annually and we found inspiration and stories to tell each year through the artwork of the shirts. Working with the superb creative team at Samurai Sportswear and the development of digital design we have been able to create some beautiful tributes.
