After a weekend’s hiatus the Army Sevens teams are back in action in Nottingham this Saturday.

The Army Men have a tough draw, being pooled with the overall Super Sevens Series leaders, Samurai. Samurai’s two wins from the two events so far sees them a massive 13 points clear at the top of the table, and the Army squad will need to be at their sharpest when the teams go head-to-head at 1320.

The other two teams in the pool, Stunts and Lambs, have found the 2021 Super Sevens Series a challenge, with neither making it past the Plate semi-finals. But they will no doubt raise their game against the men in red, who will need to be switched on for their first two games at 1000 and 1140 respectively.

This is also the first time this season that the Army will have played either the Stunts or the Lambs, but Samurai are familiar opponents, having come out on top in the Round 1 final in Aldershot three weeks ago.

The Army Women’s round-robin opponents remain the same as the opening two rounds, with games against the Ramblin Jesters (1120), Wooden Spoon Marauders (1300) and Samurai (1440) before the trophies will be handed out after the finals at 1640.

The Women have yet to record a win in 2021 against some of the best Sevens players in the country, but they have steadily improved throughout the two tournaments and maintained their commitment to its fullest.

Score updates from all the matches will be on the ARU’s social media pages, with a round-up on Monday.
