“This is Twickenham”
“This is HQ”
“And this is very, very special.”
Following the success of the 2022 Army v Navy Match, which included the first time that the women shared the Twickenham stage with the men, the Committee are pleased to announce their intention to stage the 2023 match at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday 6th May.
The 2023 match day will follow the same format as this year. A full programme of rugby will again start with the stars of the future from the Army Cadets and the youth sections of Devonport Services RFC. and US Portsmouth RFC. The 104th men’s match will kick off at 14:00 and the 19th women’s match will conclude the day, kicking off at 17:00. Both games will be playing for the Babcock trophy. Full details about ticket sales, including preference terms for members of the Army Rugby Union and the Royal Navy Rugby Union will be announced in due course. This announcement will include the on-sale date, pricing, support for spectators with specific access requirements and how the successful family zone will be improved for 2023.
The return of the Army v Navy match, after the enforced break, was made possible through the ongoing support provided by the RFU and Richmond Council. The day will continue its support of local projects through its generous funding programme and will once more provide a platform for a Service charity though the Match Charity of the Day programme. The aim for 2023 is to build on the successful return of Army v Navy rugby in 2022 and to showcase this unique celebration of Armed Forces sport at a world class venue, the home of England Rugby.
The Army v Navy Match, a day to enjoy, a day to remember. A day to renew friendships and to inspire our future stars.
Army Rugby and Navy Rugby, a family rivalry since 1907.
