Cpl Lewis Bean (Rifles) is heading to Italy this weekend after having been named in the Glasgow starting line-up for Saturday’s United Rugby Championship trip to Zebre.

Cpl Bean has been an ever-present in the Warriors’ match day squads this season and makes his second successive start in Parma tomorrow (KO 13:00 BST).

The Warriors travel to Italy in good spirits, having beaten South African pair The Sharks and Lions on home turf over the past two weekends. They will be feeling confident, too, with Zebre having failed to fire so far, losing all three matches to sit bottom of the table, with the worst-ranked attack and 13th-best disciplinary record, too.

However while the Warriors have two wins from their three games, their loss has come on the road, and Head Coach Danny Wilson says he is looking for improvement.

“Last weekend we played some good rugby against the Lions and we created a lot of opportunities. Tomorrow, we want to convert those opportunities against Zebre,” he told the club’s website.

Saturday’s game is being shown live on Premier Sports 1.

With both the Championship and Premier 15s having a weekend off, the only other professional match to include an Army player comes at Goldenacre on Saturday (KO 15:00), where LCpl Lloyd Wheeldon (3 Para) is on the bench for Heriot’s as they face Boroughmuir.

LCpl Wheeldon started last weekend’s clash between the two teams, helping Heriot’s snap a three-game losing streak to finish fifth in the Scottish Super 6 table. But they now face a play-off against Boroughmuir to confirm that placing in the overall rankings, with the Bears having won only the once since the beginning of September.

Extended highlights of this match will be on BBC Scotland on Sunday evening.
