The Premier 15s season picks up even more pace this weekend, with Army representation in two key fixtures.

On Sunday afternoon Spr Lauren Brooks (RE) retains her place in the Harlequins back row for their trip to Franklin’s Gardens in Northampton, the home-from-home for Loughborough Lightning.

Both clubs have high hopes of a strong campaign, but they got off on the wrong end of results in Round 1, Harlequins losing at home to Worcester and Loughborough going down away to reigning champions, Saracens.

Harlequins have run the changes for the match, which can be watched live on BBC Sport Online and Premier15s.com from 1500hrs.

Also on Sunday, Pte Courtney Pursglove (RLC) steps up from the bench to start on the wing for Sale Sharks, who travel to Worcester.

Pte Pursglove continued her try scoring form in the Sharks’ opening day win over DMP, crossing for her team’s fifth and final five-pointer that completed a 31-12 victory. She is one of a number of changes made by the Sharks coaches, including a trio of USA internationals following the completion of their Rugby World Cup campaign.

Sale came unstuck at Worcester on the final day of 2021/22, so will be hoping to go one better this time out. Kick off at Sixways is at 1300hrs.

Finally, belated congratulations to Spr Mike McDonald and Spr Cameron McDonald (both RE). Not only did they help the Sappers head to the top of the Corps Championship League 1 this week, but three days previously they were in Harare, helping Germany 7s win the Zambezi Challenge.

An unbeaten pool stage put them into the final against the Zimbabwe national team, scoring at the end of the match to win 19-17, an ideal way to warm up for next weekend’s Dubai Invitation 7s, for which Spr Mike McDonald has been chosen in the German squad.
